Viimati uuendatud: 19.02.2017
Working day preceding the New Year’s Day, Estonian Independence Day, Victory Day and Christmas Eve is shortened by three hours. The employer must shorten the working day which immediately precedes the national or state holiday. The workday preceding the holiday is the day directly before the holiday. For example, if the shift ends on Friday and Monday is a national holiday, the employer is not obliged to shorten Friday by three hours.
If the work characteristics require that the employee works the usual number of hours, this can be done on mutual agreement. In this case, the three hours should be treated as overtime work and remunerated either by free time or money.
